The Hope Makers Organization for Women, a non-profit group devoted to empowering women, has taken a noteworthy stride towards promoting women's participation in the security sector. This initiative was requested by the Baghdad Women's Association to encourage and prepare women for positions in the security sector. By initiating this program, the organization hopes to eliminate gender bias and provide equal opportunities for women in this predominantly male-dominated field. The main objective of the initiative was to raise awareness among women and girls in Sinjar and Sinuni about the significance of community policing and to inspire them to consider working in the security sector. The session commenced with the introduction of UN Security Council Resolution 1325, which emphasizes the importance of women's involvement in peace and security efforts. The participants were informed about the benefits of women's participation in security fields and decision-making processes. Hope Makers' efforts were fruitful, as they recorded an overwhelmingly positive response from 90 female participants. In fact, seven of the attendees expressed their interest in joining the community police, either on a voluntary or official basis. This is a remarkable achievement for the organization, as it reflects the . success of their initiative in inspiring and motivating women to break stereotypes and pursue careers in the security sector.
