Context
Hope Makers Organization for Woman (HMOW) is a locally-led initiative that provides support to the Yezidi women and their community in Sinjar. Established in 2016, HMOW has been instrumental in offering Mental Health Support and Suicide Prevention services, among other services that bolster resilience and expedite recovery.
From the outset, HMOW has remained committed to its primary objective of supporting women and girls who are survivors of ISIS and gender-based violence. The organization has achieved this goal by creating secure spaces that enable women to find solace in each other's company and participating in various psychological activities.
HMOW aims to enhance women's psychological well-being and empower them to become decision-makers who can dream and create a better future for themselves and their society.
The vision of HMOW is to establish a secure community for women and girls of all backgrounds and identities, with the aim of combating gender-based violence and discrimination. This includes fostering an environment that promotes support and respect for all individuals. HMOW endeavors to empower women to advocate for themselves and become catalysts for change.
The core mission of the HMOW is to establish a world where women and girls, irrespective of their background or identity, are treated with safety, respect, and value. The organization remains steadfast in its commitment to this goal, and will continue its efforts to cultivate awareness and knowledge concerning gender-based violence. Its ultimate aim is to construct an equitable future where gender parity is a norm.
