[Sinjar, March 10, 2024] – Hope Makers Organization for Woman (HMOW) reaffirmed its commitment to empowering Yezidi women and girls through a series of impactful activities held on March 7th and 10th to commemorate International Women's Day.

On March 7th, HMOW organized four awareness sessions in Sinjar and Sinuni, highlighting the importance of International Women's Day, particularly focusing on Yezidi women. These sessions offered valuable insights into HMOW's services and forthcoming initiatives aimed at empowering Yezidi women and girls. After the sessions, attendees received gift bags containing resources on mental health, details about HMOW services, as well as symbolic tokens such as purple flowers and ribbons as gestures of gratitude for their participation. As a result of these sessions, over 85 participants from various areas in Sinjar and Sinuni registered to avail themselves of HMOW services.

Continuing the celebration, on March 10th, HMOW organized a special event targeting 100 beneficiaries and community members in Sinuni. The event featured a presentation highlighting the importance of International Women's Day and outlining HMOW's services and future endeavors. A moving poem on the significance of women, delivered by a talented young poet, captivated the audience. Additionally, a theatrical performance by a young student conveyed the importance of motherhood, while a musical rendition showcased the rich folklore of Sinjar.

As a symbolic gesture, participants were invited to dip their hands in painting colors representing different causes: purple for International Women's Day, orange for the 16 Days of Activism against Violence against Women, and pink to raise awareness about breast cancer. The event concluded with the cutting of a celebratory cake, followed by the distribution of handbags containing information on mental health and HMOW services.

Commenting on the success of the events, the executive director Dr.Nagham Nawzat said, "We are thrilled to have commemorated International Women's Day with such meaningful activities. These events not only celebrated the achievements of women but also shed light on the challenges they face, particularly within the Yezidi community. HMOW remains steadfast in its mission to empower women and girls, and we are grateful for the support of our participants and community members."

Hope Makers Organization for Woman continues to be at the forefront of driving positive change for women and girls, advocating for their rights and well-being.
